Moving lucky bamboo plant, good idea or no?

I want to change out the rocks that are currently in the small with the bamboo plant. Currently the rocks in the vase with the bamboo are volcanic rock I believe. And I cannot stress my hate for volcanic rock. So I decided I want to switch the rock out with little glass pebbles. Would this be ok?
